This revolutionary new look at vision will broaden your understanding of how you see and how you can see without your glasses or contact lenses.
Take Off Your Glasses and See shows you how to free yourself from the crutch of prescription lenses, to build your self-confidence and awareness, and to open your inner and outer vision in order to see more clearly.
Jacob Liberman, an internationally recognized authority on holistic vision care, explains how most vision problems are the result of an unconscious decision to “close your eyes” to emotional discomfort or pain, and how increasingly powerful corrective lenses only encourage eyesight to withdraw even further. By removing lenses and practicing breath- and movement-awareness techniques to shift your perception, you can reintegrate the original disruption in the mind/body system. Dr. Liberman’s approach can help you join the thousands who have escaped from the self-defeating cycle of poor vision.

“A fascinating scientific, cultural, spiritual and evolutionary history of the way humans breathe—and how we’ve all been doing it wrong for a long, long time.” —Elizabeth Gilbert, author of Big Magic and Eat Pray Love
No matter what you eat, how much you exercise, how skinny or young or wise you are, none of it matters if you’re not breathing properly.
There is nothing more essential to our health and well-being than breathing: take air in, let it out, repeat twenty-five thousand times a day. Yet, as a species, humans have lost the ability to breathe correctly, with grave consequences.
Journalist James Nestor travels the world to figure out what went wrong and how to fix it. The answers aren’t found in pulmonology labs, as we might expect, but in the muddy digs of ancient burial sites, secret Soviet facilities, New Jersey choir schools, and the smoggy streets of São Paulo. Nestor tracks down men and women exploring the hidden science behind ancient breathing practices like Pranayama, Sudarshan Kriya, and Tummo and teams up with pulmonary tinkerers to scientifically test long-held beliefs about how we breathe.
Modern research is showing us that making even slight adjustments to the way we inhale and exhale can jump-start athletic performance; rejuvenate internal organs; halt snoring, asthma, and autoimmune disease; and even straighten scoliotic spines. None of this should be possible, and yet it is.
Drawing on thousands of years of medical texts and recent cutting-edge studies in pulmonology, psychology, biochemistry, and human physiology, Breath turns the conventional wisdom of what we thought we knew about our most basic biological function on its head. You will never breathe the same again.

I feel so “free”. I don’t know how long I’ve lost it.
I felt something very different while taking a walk yesterday evening. I wondered why, what happened? I finally figured it out. It’s my body! I noted that my neck is light, straight without feeling the tug, stiffness. My back, font chest and lower back felt “opened up”. The steps are easy to make without feeling the dull pain from the lower back. It just felt like a bended piece of metal got straighten up. Now, I realize how much it has an impact on me all this time.
Something that simple yet it changed my mood. I feel happy and hopeful. I guest I should never take my body for granted.

We came to Steve a few years back after my husband tore the labrum in his shoulder. As a climber by profession and passion, my husband depends very much on his shoulders, so the injury was of great concern to him on many levels. Several doctors had already told him that he would need to have surgery, but we made sure to get a handful of opinions and one doctor recommended that he do physical therapy first. His thoughts were that he should see what PT could do and in the event that he ended up requiring surgery, it couldn’t hurt to do PT and strengthen the support around the injured shoulder first.
By great fortune, we found Steve and were right away impressed with Steve’s very personalized, positive, and patient approach to the goal of long-term function and health. He is incredibly knowledgeable, observant, and talented at what he does. With each session, my husband’s repertoire of exercises to support and strengthen his shoulder grew, and by the end of his series of sessions with Steve, he ended up climbing and feeling stronger than he ever had before. These exercises have remained a crucial part of my husband’s training ever since.
A couple of years later, I too worked with Steve over a couple of months on recurring issues I’d been having with my back. I looked forward to every session and came away with a whole array of exercises to keep my back healthy and pain-free.
We can’t thank Steve enough and can honestly give him our highest recommendation!

Dr. Politis is a kind, caring, and capable practitioner. He listens intently and thoughtfully to the details of your concern and treats using gentle, precise, and effective movements. I went to see Dr. Steve with chronic neck pain that was interfering with my ability to work out and causing me a lot of discomfort. His gentle manipulations eased the pain almost instantly, and the simple exercises he gave me really helped improve the condition. I highly recommend Dr. Steve Politis.

As a group climbers can be very difficult to work with. We know that most doctors do not get what we do. Dr. Steve not only understands climbing injuries, he understands that people who climb want to get back to climbing as soon as possible. Dr. Steve took the time to understand our injuries, help us heal, and most importantly, how to prevent those injuries from popping up again. Thanks Dr. Steve!

I am a professional Ballet Dancer in Washington D.C. and have had the utmost trust in Steve for many years. As a dancer, we have so may unusual and out of the ordinary aches, pains, and injuries. With Steve I knew that no matter how unusual the injury, he always could find a safe and extremely helpful way to treat me.
After assessing the injury carefully, and explaining to me what was bothering me, he would treat it. Steve is very knowledgeable with many forms of treatment, and was obviously an expert with each form! The excersises he would give me were always exactly what I needed to strengthen the weakened areas and get me back out onstage nice and strong again!
I highly recommend Dr. Steve Politis!

Steve is by far the most professional and astute practitioner I have had the pleasure of working with. His knowledge of the body and what it is needing are top notch. My osteoarthritis pain and the attending nerve pain have both been lessened to a great extent by the work we have done together. He sets goals collaboratively with me and “assigns” exercises for me to do at home which are quite safe and ‘doable’ and have helped me a great deal. He never pushes me too much, and the safe procedures he uses on me always leave me feeling better and hopeful for the future.
